Photoshoot with Suzi

Recently I did a shoot with a talented friend of mine, Suzi Jacobs. We were both able to shoot and model. I have a blog post a few weeks ago showing the photos I got of her. Below are some of her lovely photos she captured of me! There will be more pictures & outfits from this shoot to come :)

I am wearing studded military-inspired vest I recently got at Zara. I paired it with a lace dress from Urban Outfitters to give it a girly touch. Then matched it with a studded belt & matched cognac shoes.
I'm guilty of re-wearing this exact outfit a couple of times these past few weeks. Something I normally hate doing, but I just cant get enough!

Blues & Shoes

These shoes!!! I've been dying for a pair of Jeffrey Campbells for a long time now. I'm surprised I didn't own any, I'm obsessed. I found these babies brand new at buffalo exchange for $60! They retail in the $300s. I'm not a big fan of the stiletto heel, but they were too fab to pass us. I'm always a sucker for studs. I used this look in today's Coast to coast challenge, a bi-weekly instagram fashion challenge! Today's was "hues of blue". Check out their blog here www.coasttocoastchallenge.wordpress.com

Free at Sea

With the weather being so nice in San Diego I couldn't help but create a summer-inspired nautical design. I must have drawn 6 ships before I decided on this one! I wanted it to be a loose and quirky design. I took my scanned drawing and live traced it in illustrator. I choose to use the fill instead of the lines. After that I roughened it up a bit and added a watercolor texture in photoshop. I painted the stripes in watercolor separately and layered them behind the ship in photoshop. This design may be used in Jedidiah's Spring 2014 line. Hope you like it!

Photographing Suzi

This weekend I had the opportunity to photograph my gorgeous friend Suzi Jacobs.
Suzi does photography and she had asked if I was interested in doing a photo shoot with her, I agreed if I could take some pictures of her too! I have been wanting to practice photography and this was the perfect opportunity. We met up for some coffee on saturday afternoon and then started shooting. I love having creative friends I can do this with! Below are some of the photos I took of her along with some nature photos I took recently. The photo story tuned out to be so sweet & dreamy. And how adorable is her outfit? My favorite part is how she layered her socks and boots. I need to get some tall socks and rock this look myself! I'll be uploading her photos of me on my blog soon!

Buffalo Design

Here is a new Illustration I created. It ended up looking very different in my head than it tuned out, but so does almost everything I do. I wasn't sure how I felt about it at first, but now I kinda like him. I designed this with Jedidiah in mind but now I think it's just a bit to strange looking for a T-shirt design. Also a younger look than what we are going for. So I think I'll just keep it as a personal illustration. Below I have a on-shirt sample & some prints and goodies you can find on my society6 account.
I also threw in the original drawing. It ended up looking quite different than the final result. At first it didn't look much like a buffalo at all so it took some serious tweaking. I changed a lot of things on photoshop and illustrator, including it's nose and giving the little guy an afro! Hope you guys like it!

Red Hot Pants

Every girls needs a pair of pants that scream "Look at my legs!!!". These are my red hot pants.
Now time to brag a bit about my extreme thriftiness!
The pants are Ralph Lauren but I snagged them at buffalo exchange for $17.
The top is a super old school lucky brand denim button up with embroidered flower detail. Got this at a thrift shop for like $5. So funny how brands go in and out. I used to LOVE Lucky Jeans. now they are just kinda "meh". I feel like they waited to long to join the skinny jeans trend to stay true to the 70's flared look, and that didn't do so well for them. But despite that I adore this quirky top!
The shoes are Boutique 9. They originally retailed for $160 but I spotted them on clearance at ross for $20! And on top of that I got an additional discount for saying they looked worn (which was obviously the intentional style haha, so cheating). Ended up getting these bad boys for $15.
If i wasn't such a deal hunter I could not afford my shopping lifestyle!

Dreamer - Threadless Submission

This is an illustration of a sleeping fox I did recently. I designed it for Jedidiah, but it ended up looking a bit to young for our line. I've been wanting to use it for something and stumbled upon this "You are beautiful" design contest on threadless.com. Below is a description of the contest.

"You Are Beautiful is a little sticker campaign that’s trying to make a big difference in how people feel about their self-worth. Since 2002, the You are Beautiful community has slapped more than 500,000 of these little reflective stickers on lamp posts, light switches, mirrors, and wherever else stickers stick across the world.  Your challenge is to create a beautiful t-shirt design. Your design doesn’t need to change the world. But if it can change one person’s world, we’ll take it!"

I love this idea, and I thought this design worked perfectly and sent out a positive message to always dream!
Today is the last day for voting so please VOTE a 5 here:

Also some prints & products available on Society 6!
If you check out my society6 account you can get prints and all the fun products pictured below. I'm not sure if I will have to remove the artwork from Society6 if I win the Threadless contest, so hurry and get some before it's too late :)

Cat's Meow

________________________________

So this sweater is my new favorite thing ever. It's just too much and I love it. So funny what a huge trend cats have become. I layered the sweater with a white button up and corduroy skirt.
I paired some lace up boots and socks to give it a playful schoolgirl look.
